Bengali movies ----Lights camera Action
Bengali Movies are unknown to the world except the likes of Satyajit Ray, Mrinal Sen,Tapan Sinha and few others,but what i will like to say is that it has got its other gems too.Names must be mentioned of Uttam Kumar,The Mahanayak--or the Greatest heroas bengalis called him.He was a superb actor,a superb improviser and a creative fellow who has many legendary hits to his names like The Seven Rounds,The Hero, Agniswar,The saint King,The zoo etc.secondly the name that comes to my mind is that of Soumitra Chatterjee, the Satyajit Ray hero.Although he has other remarkable films but his name will remain unforgotten for those movies.Other great persons who should be mentioned and does not got their sufficient Respect were Gouriprassanna Majumder and Hemanta.Gouriprasanna was a great lyricyist probably the most used after Rabindranath Tagore in Bengali movies.Another great actors who if had born in other countries may have been the likes of Tom Hanks are Rabi Ghosh and Bikash Rai a master in charecter roles......
Coming to the modern day Bengali cinema There are greats like that of Rituparna Sengupta,Tarun Majumder,Buddhadeb Dasgupta who makes serious movies with important issues.A new western style of cinema has been introduced by Anjan Dutta.He is a man to watch delivaring new flavors for the young mass that has been accepted among audience.
Coming to the present day Commercial cinema its full of copies only from hindi and south Indian movies ---No quality as such.I dont find a single name worth wasting words on.Bollywood copies from Hollywood and Tollywood copies from Bollywood and south---What a Shame.Non Bengali producers ruling the market are spoiling the name..
Hoping for new days in commercial cinema ,I end for today......
